Follow up Stats On UFC
The UFC has grown its revenue at a 25% clip since 2005.
Revenue now stands at just over $1 billion per year.
And EBITDA is estimated to be $523 million
*they don’t break out these numbers directly but can be roughly inferred through other data points provided by the company*
This means that the UFC is a business that has been growing very quickly with very high, 50%, margins and a very loyal fan base. A large part of the revenue about 70% brought in by the UFC is recurring revenue, which is a more valuable type of revenue.
So what is the UFC alone worth? I think a company with these characteristics is fair to put a 15-17x multiple on. That would equate to about $8-$9billion in value for the UFC.
The whole company of EDR can be bought for $12 billion which means we’re spending $3-$4 billion on everything else EDR owns that isn’t the UFC.
The rest of the Company brings in about $285 million in earnings meaning we’re paying about 14x’s for the rest of the company.
Unfortunately for us… these numbers seem fair, and maybe even generous.
But this is one I will keep my eye on and will keep the blog updated if it drops a bit.
Cool to see what an amazing business the UFC is!
Seeing how profitable they are, especially when compared to other sports leagues, I could definitely see them heavily increasing fighter pay in the nearish future.
